Sometimes, creating a convincing environment does not require a huge set or a room full of materials.
For a promotional film created around a club security concept, Linney needed one of its own entrance doors to look like the entrance to a gig venue.
Our challenge was to transform the space quickly and convincingly, while keeping the build practical and cost effective.
From corporate entrance to gig venue
We started with the existing doorway and built a full surround using printed graphics and engineered cardboard.
The materials were lightweight and flexible, but when combined with the right design and finish, they completely changed the character of the space.
The familiar corporate entrance disappeared, replaced by something much more atmospheric, the kind of doorway that suggested there was something happening on the other side.
Adding a little light
To push the transformation further, we created a custom LED arrow to sit above the entrance.
The arrow used individually controllable LEDs, allowing the sequence to be programmed so it could pulse and direct attention towards the doorway.
That small addition made a big difference on camera, adding movement and energy to an otherwise static set.
The result was a temporary installation that delivered a convincing gig environment without the expense, material use or waste associated with constructing a full scale set.
